DETAILED HISTORY

PIP Start is a merger between two 501c(3) non-profit corporations—PIP Ministries and MOVES. PIP Ministries was founded in 1998 with the purpose to promote Christian fellowship in youth and the community.  MOVES, which stands for  Motivational Outreach for Visions of Engineering and Science, was founded in 1995 with the purpose to motivate students to learn through teamwork, creativity and problem solving by using math, science and engineering as a tool.

These two organizations decided to merge together to form PIP Start in 2002.   Focusing on promoting Christian fellowship and motivating students to learn, PIP Start began the programs called Master Builder, which originated from MOVES and PIP Impact, an after school program that assists students in their education.

In 1998, Praise in the Park, also known as PIP was originated within the PIP Ministries branch.  Praise in the Park is now part of PIP Start and takes place each year around Easter. In 2008, PIP Compassion was established as a way to focus more on the community.  That same year, PIP Start was requested to create and oversee a Halloween event that led to the beginning of PIP FIRE, which stands for Fueled Ignited for puRposE.  The idea came from wanting to bring something that would bring the community together in order to recognize our purpose as children of God.   It is an event that focuses on purposes, choices and consequences.

This year, in 2009, PIP Compassion is separating itself from PIP Start to focus more on the community and PIP Start will continue to concentrate on education. PIP Start continues to focus on empowering our youth and community through the guidance of our Lord.
